About

My illustrations include hand drawn Yoga poses as I have been practicing yoga since January of 2005 and find many of the poses beautiful. For that reason, I sought to capture the beauty of each pose in cerebration the yoga spiritual practice. I created more than 12 artistic poses and selected five which have been printed and/or framed as part of my exhibition. My Imagination Collection consist of colorful detained abstract, yet clearly defined images left for interpretation of the viewer. My “Imagination Collection” is a pure and uninhibited expression of my thoughts in the moment creating whatever comes to mind. It's like a spirit using me as an instrument of expression. My Imagination Collection is a creation designed for the personality of the interested buyer who will be drawn in by its energy.

In a final touch, I have included several originals done with color pencils and acrylic on paper. I have self-published two children's books and I am working on a third. I will be offering “Ava's Fantastic Voyage” and the coloring book for parents with children. All illustrations are of my creation, a couple of which may become a part of my exhibition for the children. Because I am now retired, I am focused on art as I get lost in time and spend hours on creating whatever may be inspired in that moment. During my visit at the Riverside Arts Festival, I really enjoyed looking at the arts and crafts and talking to the vendors. From that, I made the decision that I would like to be a vendor as well. Regardless of whether I sell my creations or not, talking with people and sharing what I have created will still be fun.

Fumiko Hidaka
My name is Fumiko Hidaka, mother, artist, writer and a vascular technologist. I was born and raised in Miyazaki, Japan and moved to the United States in 1986 not yet literate in speaking English although I studied English at school for six years in Japan. I began taking college courses and progressed to a point of understanding how to speak and write English fluently. Thereafter, in 1998 I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Science specializing Vascular Technology (non-invasive ultrasound diagnostic technology to evaluate arteries and veins all parts of your body) at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon. My career as a Vascular Technologist lasted for a span of 23 years prior to my retirement in January 2022.

During my time off as a vascular technologist, I constantly acted on my love for the artistic expression of drawing using various mediums. I often created specific pieces for family and friends or just for myself. In wanting to do more with my art, I was inspired by my only grandson Osani who was born challenged and unable to walk for many months past his first year. The book is currently titled "Osani's Fantastic Voyage" published in February of 2021 which is about a boy who not only learned to walk, but also learned to fly. Response from parents on how much their children children enjoyed my first book, inspired me to create the second book "Ava's Fantastic Voyage." My retirement here in Florida from vascular technology allows me to focus on my passion for creative writing and drawing full-time. If I write one children's book that touches one child's life, then I know it was worth every joyful moment of another inspired creation.
