Spice Pilgrim

My name is Dolly Singh and I am the proud owner of a local stone-ground spice and hand blended loose leaf tea company called Spice Pilgrim. We are a female owned company with the goal of providing our customers with the best quality spices and teas. When I moved to the United States from India, I was disappointed to find that none of the spices at any stores were at the same par as I was accustomed to. After some extensive research, I found out that large corporations use metal blades to ground their spices. These metal grinders generate heat which burns off the oils within the spices, so you not only lose the health benefits and also the flavor of the spice. We preserve the oils by stone grinding our spices which reflects the age-old process my Grandmother used to make our homely meals. We are currently available at the Oregon City and Milwaukee farmer markets and our website https://www.spicepilgrim.com. We would love the opportunity to expand our company and provide your customers with our unique, salt-free, sugar-free, and preservative free superior products.

I still remember being a little girl watching my grandmother grind spices using a stone mill grinder. She used to tell me “When you work hard, you are greatly rewarded for your labors. Look at these spices, for example, even though it takes a lot of work to grind, they’ll make our food taste magnificent.“ At that time, I had no clue to what she was doing or meant but I did know it tasted delicious in our food.
Fast forward to 2005, to when I have moved to the United States with my family. Food was the love of my life, but there was a problem. My food was lacking in taste! This problem was always nagging me, so I began to research to find out why. I finally found stone ground spices, were the reasons for my dilemma.
When you buy spices from a grocery store, they grind it using metal blades. This generates heat which in return cooks the oils in the spice. Not only do these oils change the taste, but they’re crucial for your health. After applying these changes to my life, I was back to being that little girl being feed by her grandmother. Join us on our pilgrimage to a life with better tastes and health.
