Oakdale Farms is a 6th generation working horticulture and chicken farm in Rehoboth, Dighton, and Seekonk. The farm produces food for the local community through venues such as home delivery, farmers’ markets, CSA farm shares, and food hubs.
Oakdale Farms practices safe and environmentally friendly farming. Natural fertilizers are used to enrich the soil. The selection of seeds and plant starts consists of heirloom, organic, and untreated varieties. Oakdale Farms holds a Certificate of Accreditation from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources for meeting the advanced set of food safety standards and environmental practices in support of the Commonwealth Quality Program for fresh produce that is grown, harvested, and processed in Massachusetts.
Oakdale Farms’ agriculture program consists of summer and winter squashes, sweet corn, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, pumpkins, hay, herbs, berries, apples, melons, stone fruits, and more. Additionally, the farm raises laying hens for their fresh eggs. Furthermore, the farm uses its produce to create value-added items such as jams, relishes, herbal vinegar, and baked goods in their certified country kitchen.
Acceptable forms of payment at the farmers market include cash, check, charge, and EBT cards as they are SNAP/HIP certified.
Before starting his own business, Laura’s dad, Richard, worked on his family’s farm in Rehoboth. Additionally, Laura’s Mom, Marie, grew up on her parents’ farm, Lane Gardens, in Dighton. Laura and her husband Mike purchased land in nearby Seekonk to expand the farm. Their daughter Madison and her husband Cody are continuing the farm tradition. Mackenzie, their second daughter, works remotely on the farm assisting with technology.
Besides her work on the farm, Laura is a consultant and licensed Massachusetts educator working with children and adults in the areas of STEM Education and Farm to School Activities.
