Nixon Knacks

I was inspired to create unique nature necklaces by my children and the little nature treasures they love to bring me. Flowers, feathers, pebbles, snail shells, mushrooms, and ladybugs are all handed to me with beaming smiles, muddy fingers and eyes full of pride. I wanted to find a way to preserve that feeling and those treasures forever, and so the idea of necklaces came to life. Little pieces of the springs and summers of their childhood, frozen in time and worn close to the heart.

As a homeschool family living on a farm in Bright's Grove, Ontario, with horses, chickens, and no shortage of wildlife, we spend lots of time out in nature observing and taking in all of God’s beautiful Creation. My children and I now go for nature walks around our property specifically to look for treasures to put in my necklaces, and it has been such a wonderful way to observe and look for the tiny things in nature that we might normally pass by.

Each one of a kind necklace consists of nature treasures like mushrooms, flowers and even ladybugs found on walks around our farm that are then encased in resin and framed in an antique gold oval frame. In addition to these necklaces I have made a small collection of tiny nature water colour painting necklaces inspired by our life on the homestead as well as a small selection of hand made nature inspired earrings and hair pins and vintage bookmarks.
