Sillken brings decades of musical and performance experience to the stage and is best known as a duo in Vancouver with a violinist/backup vocalist. While this partnership is on hiatus, Sillken continue to perform and write music as a solo act. She has classical guitar training and has studied with Eli Kassner (teacher to Liona Boyd, Jesse Cook) and currently studies with Louise Southwood. Sillken is a member of the Vancouver Classical Guitar Ensemble. In addition, she is a singer-songwriter and has written 100's of songs of which shes selectively perfoms. The cover songs she performs reflect her personality, feelings and emotions and are chosen to enhance the vibe of her original songs. With her classical guitar training Sillken is able to uniquely offer classical guitar performances as well and integrate this music into her longer gigs (e.g., outdoor markets that are 2-4 hr. performances). Sillken has two EP's recorded and produced by Winston Hauschild, a well-honed and respected musician in Vancouver. She is also part of a vibrant musical community in Vancouver and has hosted open mics at Trees in both Gastown and Yaletown as a form of service to the community by bringing together talented musicians from Vancouver and from all over the world when they visit our city of Vancouver. Sillken’s music career began in Toronto, Ontario, where she was born. She has also performed in Texas, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and the Yukon Territories. She is a recipient of the LA Music Awards, and has performed at Winterfolk in Toronto. She has showcased at the Vancouver Island Music Conference, Courtney, BC and the Serenity Performing Arts Centre, Clearwater, BC. Sillken has performed hundreds of performances in venues in Vancouver that include coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, festivals, charity events and farmers' markets. She is part of the busking community at Granville Island and the SFU Busking Summer Series as well as a regular performer for CITR 101.9 radio and CBC. Recent memorable performances include Deer Lake Art Gallery, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, and the Mary Olsen Hall, Vancouver Academy of Music.
