Description
This is our most harvested type of morel. It is the earliest fire-induced morel to come up, and has a bold, nutty, smokey flavor. We pick with care to avoid ashy or sandy mushrooms, which can be an issue in the burnt landscape. If, however, you do get a little grit at the base of your morel, a quick rinse with the kitchen spray hose cleans those pits and grooves very easily.
