About

Welcome to The Woods Spirit Co.

Where the art of Italian liqueurs meets the spirit of the Pacific Northwest, located on the North Shore of British Columbia, we’re a family-owned, female-led craft distillery specializing in Italian-inspired liqueurs and a range of spirits that honour tradition while celebrating our vibrant, local community.

At The Woods, we’re dedicated to sourcing as many local ingredients as possible, working closely with BC farmers and suppliers to create spirits that capture the essence of our region. We use 100% BC grain for our base spirit in all our products. Our team uses a unique cold vacuum distillation process to bring out the purest flavours from organic citrus, locally sourced nuts, and quality botanicals, crafting liqueurs with rich, complex profiles that blend Italian heritage with a West Coast twist.

Our commitment to the triple bottom line – people, planet, and prosperity – is at the heart of our business values. As a woman-owned and culturally diverse business, inclusivity and social impact are central to what we do. We prioritize sustainable practices, reduce our environmental footprint wherever possible, and foster a welcoming environment for all. Our tasting room is more than a place to enjoy exceptional spirits; it’s a community hub where people from all backgrounds can come together and celebrate.

Beyond distilling, we’re passionate about building connections and supporting local businesses that strengthen our community. For us, The Woods Spirit Co. is not just about making great spirits; it’s about contributing positively to the people and place we call home.

Come raise a glass with us and experience The Woods Spirit Co. – where craft, culture, and community meet in every bottle.

Celia Chiang, Executive MBA – Owner & Operator, The Woods Spirit Co.
Celia Chiang is a dynamic entrepreneur, driven by curiosity and a passion for community. With a diverse background spanning floral retail, not-for-profit leadership, and craft spirits, she brings an innovative vision to every venture she pursues.

🎓 Background & Education
Celia began her journey with a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Victoria, followed by an Executive MBA from SFU Beedie in 2025. Her studies helped sharpen her leadership capabilities, deepen her understanding of operational efficiency, and equip her with tools to scale The Woods Spirit Co.’s growth and legacy.

Entrepreneurship & Community Roots
At 25, Celia launched two consecutive successful floral businesses—Blooming Buds in Coquitlam and Port Moody Flowes in Port Moody—gaining early experience in small business operations and customer connection. She later co-founded Shop Local Port Moody and the Asian Impact Society, reflecting her ongoing support for local businesses and social causes.

Steward of The Woods Spirit Co.
In late 2023, Celia took over operations of The Woods Spirit Co. in North Vancouver. The distillery is renowned for its Italian-inspired spirits and innovative vacuum distillation technique, which extracts delicate Pacific Northwest botanicals with extraordinary clarity and flavour.

Under her leadership, Woods has introduced award-winning spirits like Arancello, pristine Vodka and hyper-local dairy free, hazelnut cream liqueur Crema Nocciola and financed a highly anticipated whisky maturation program. Celia hopes to build a lasting family legacy, involving her daughters in the business as it continues evolving.

Driven by Adventure & Grit
A lover of the outdoors, Celia’s tenacity was proven on a 12-day trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in 2020. The experience reinforced her belief that steady perseverance leads to achievement—a philosophy she brings to building The Woods brand and business every day.

Vision & Values
Celia leads with a blend of creativity, integrity, and empathy. She champions sustainability, collaboration, and innovation, working alongside other BC small businesses to elevate local spirit-making. Her aim is to honour both tradition and inclusive entrepreneurship in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
