Paan Bakery

I've always loved baking—especially for others. My father was in the Navy, and we traveled a lot, which allowed me to experience many different cultures. From my birthplace in Rota, Spain, to my time living in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Chicago, Rogers Park, I've learned that every culture has something unique and beautiful to contribute to the world.

Every place I've visited and every culture I've experienced has further developed my love for international cuisine. When I met my husband, who is from Sri Lanka, my love for baking went to a new level as I explored creating the country's toasted treasure, paan. In Sri Lanka you'll find paan carts meandering through the city streets loaded with different types of bread and treats.

I hope to bring that cultural experience to the Charlottesville City Market with Paan Bakery. I plan to sell baked goods inspired by Sri Lankan cuisine as well as treats from other cultures, including a traditional chocolate chip cookie with a twist: sea salt, caramel, and pretzels added. When people visit my booth, my goal is to put a smile on their faces and cheer them up with the international baked goods I create. Thank you for taking time to learn more about my bakery!
