Cristine's Mittens

After buying a seemingly endless string of mittens and being endlessly disappointed, I decided to take matters into my own hands (literally). With help from my mother-in-law, who is a magician with a sewing machine, the end result was a pair of incredibly warm, sturdy, and really comfortable mittens...not to mention beautiful!

Creating the mittens begins with a treasure hunt through thrift stores to discover high quality wool sweaters ready for a second life. The wool is machine washed in hot water which creates a felted, durable, water resistant exterior. The patterns and colors of different sweaters are skillfully matched and carefully sewn together using a superb pattern. A polar fleece lining is added to give you the warmth to brave nearly any winter activity.

After over 10 years of selling thousands of mittens online and at craft shows, my hobby has become a business I love. From the first step of discovering a beautiful sweater in a thrift store all the way to meeting the wonderful customers who walk away with warm hands and a huge smile on their face, this is a passion I hope to continue for years ahead!
