Zilla’s Pit BBQ started on the barbecue circuit in 2014. After winning numerous prizes throughout the years owner, Terrance, alongside his wife and business partner, Dareka, decided to start a catering business. Once people tried this down home, West Tennessee, inspired food they were hooked.
We specialize in authentic, pit-smoked meats prepared in the classic southern style, with our own twist of unique and addicting flavors. We are currently a mobile unit that brings our flavors all over Tennessee. Check out our pop-up section to see where we will be next.

Terrance, AKA Big Perm, is a West TN born and Nashville raised barbecue pitmaster. He entered his first competition in May 2014 and won the pork rib contest and hasn’t looked back since. As he continued to compete, many people who tried his food would ask where they could purchase the food. The seed was then planted to start a catering business, which then turned into a food trailer. Terrance’s passion is to bring the traditions of his hometown of Brownsville, TN to the masses. His slogan is,”To treat everyone like family.”
DAREKA HICKMAN NICHOLSON, CFO & CULINARY DIRECTOR
Dareka, AKA Dee, was born and raised in Nashville, TN. Culinary Arts has been her passion since she was young. She spent many days and nights in the kitchen with her mother and grandmothers learning as much as she can. She eventually decided to go to school for culinary arts where she graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. She is currently a Food Service Director in the hospitality field and spends the majority of her time helping her husband with Zilla’s Pit BBQ. Her personal motto is, “Food is love.”
