Starting at the age of 12, Ben began apprenticeships at Colonial Williamsburg at the foundry work and traditional gunsmithing, he had always had an interest in decorative objects and historic trades. After graduating Virginia Tech with duel majors in History and Art History, he began to pursue training in historic preservation and focused on traditional carpentry and architectural conservation for museum clients and private home owners. This background in history and skilled trades inspired my desire to produce objects for sale that showcase my unique skillset and appreciation for the past.
Black Creek Workshop produces historically inspired products based on a decades long career in the fields of historic preservation and historic trades. Each handcrafted product is rooted in the past and presented with newfound relevance to the modern consumer.
