Jess Wisdom is a Chicana artist who has worked in several mediums throughout her 40 years of creating. Jesse Richardson is an Iowa native who draws inspiration from the natural world. Together they are Callo Metal Art, bringing unique handmade jewelry to local markets with a focus on detail and craftsmanship. Each piece is built with the ancient techniques of metalsmithing and crafted to last generations. The couple also accept custom orders for special creations and work closely with their clients to create sentimental heirlooms.
We are a husband-wife duo creating heirloom adornments in recycled sterling silver, brass and copper as well as gold upon request. Our stones and crystals are ethically sourced, cleansed and charged according to their energies upon being set in any piece of jewelry we create. How we treat Mother Earth in our processes and techniques is vitally important to us. We strive to expand our awareness in ethical practices to all humans, creatures and land involved in the mining-to-market process of gems and minerals and thusly take corresponding action. The metals we work with our derived from taking old jewelry, melting and refining it (smelting), then creating new work from it. We also teach classes and deeply desire to pass on our knowledge, to all who are interested in learning this ancient art, that we may keep it alive.
