Fort Hill Farm
Vendor
Fort Hill Farm occupies 36 acres of flat, sandy loam soils on a terrace above the Housatonic River just a mile from the center of New Milford, CT. Paul Bucciaglia and Rebecca Batchie have been growing certified organic produce here since 2002 on land rented from Sunny Valley Preserve, a project of The Nature Conservancy. We produce a wide variety of vegetable, fruit, and herb crops using certified organic growing methods. Our sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, ginger, and garlic are signature crops among the 35 we grow. We produce crops for our own CSA and farmstead, farmers markets, restaurants, and natural food stores.
We believe well-fed soils produce the tastiest veggies! We produce tons of compost on the farm, and grow cover crops every year to keep our crops happy. We also apply rock minerals and seed meals to our growing beds to give our crops a natural edge against pests. Diversity is a cornerstone of good organic growing, and toward that end we grow over 35 kinds of crops and rotate them all over our farm.
We also use heated and unheated greenhouses to bring crops like tomatoes and cucumber to you earlier (and later) in the season, and grow winter hardy greens, without heat, deep into the winter.
