Have you ever picked up a new "hobby" only for it to spiral out of control as you became completely obsessed? Asking for a friend. Well, not really, because that may be exactly what happened to Tranquil Root’s founder, Brittany Van Werkhoven. It was just supposed to be a dozen different plants grown from seed.
153 plants later…

Yes. 153 plants wound up growing that year, with a collection of seeds growing to over 600 different heirloom varieties for future seasons.

At that point, Brittany knew it was time to turn her newfound passion into a business for two main reasons: 1. so she could share with her local community and 2. to justify the fact that her dining room floor was completely covered in seed trays while she waited for the ever elusive Midwestern spring weather to actually arrive!

And so Tranquil Roots...took root!

At Tranquil Roots, we want to support you in making those moments extra special; be it through a heavenly bath soak, a delicious homegrown snack, an aromatic candle, a delightful tea, or all of the above! Maybe even at the same time!

We are especially focused on clean and sustainable ingredients. As someone who has suffered chronic migraines and sensitivities to scents and candles, Brittany has worked hard to find clean candle ingredients that don't give her headaches, and she hopes to share that with others who have had the same struggle!
