Whimsical, vibrant, mixed media art:
Maltochello was founded by Michelle Rankin in 2021 and features her original artwork as well as prints, greeting cards, and small gift items featuring her designs. It is based out of Michelle's home based studio. Michelle's passion is creating art that sparks joy and promotes kindness, love, and inclusivity. She is inspired by nature and follows her curiosity to create whimsical, vibrantly colored art. In her work, she uses a combination of paints, markers, embroidery, and other mixed media. Michelle has always loved things that are handmade, colorful, quirky and/or vintage, and she tries to use upcycled materials where possible. Like people, there is something beautiful about art and objects that have personality and history.
All original art is made by Michelle by hand in her home studio. For canvas artworks, she starts with a rough sketch of the design, then begins painting and applying fabric elements. Then, she frequently hand embroiders threads, yarns, and/or beads onto the artwork. Artworks are then varnished and D-rings and coated wire are applied to the back for hanging.
For mini's created on wood, a similar process is followed. In addition, all holes are hand drilled for the embroidery.
