Tia's Tamales opened for business January 11, 2023 as a tamale carryout establishment located at 2000 Brooklyn Ave, Fort Wayne, IN. Tia's specialty is handmade tamales and the recipe is from Maria Luisa Parra who operated her restaurant from the same location 2000 Brooklyn Ave for over 26 years. Her tamales have been featured during the 1990s in the Journal Gazette with caption "Tamales with Love". Tia's Tamales serve pork tamales mild or spicy that will please your taste buds to no end!
I'm a Fort Wayne, IN native. I worked with my mother, Maria Luisa making tamales when her restaurant called Parra's was open during the 1970s, 80s, 90 until she closed in 2004. I decided to make those delicious tamales so others can know and enjoy a true handmade tamale. I am a certified project manager that decided to make Tia's Tamales a personal project. I am an Elmhurst H.S. graduate with a Bachelor degree from Florida State University and a Master degree from Indiana University.
