About

House of Hope’s mission is to encourage, equip, and empower individuals to live fully through spiritual, emotional, and mental health support. We serve anyone who walks through our doors to grow in mental wellness and cultivate a relationship with Jesus. That process may look different for everyone, whether they attend therapy at our Carriage House Therapy Center, experience our Learning Group classes, live at House of Hope in our Women's Reset Residency Program, or combine all three opportunities. Your mental health and well-being is a customized path that we create in collaboration with you.

Everyone's experiences and memories shape who they become. Through past experiences and defining moments, we take memories and thoughts to define who we are today. Often, today's definition of ourselves is not accurate, true, or productive to our growth. At House of Hope, we walk alongside you and teach you how to understand your past, present, and future in an honest, real way, the way that Jesus meant for you to see your life with his unbridled love and dynamic plans for your future. We teach you how to defy negative self-talk and live in the freedom of God's plan. No condemnation, no isolation, just love.

If you live and breathe, House of Hope is here for you. Come to our beautiful Victorian home at 1744 2nd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA. We will welcome you, invite you in, and show you hope and healing.

Manager

Amy Guardado, Executive Director
As the Executive Director of House of Hope, Amy comes from a background of nonprofit ministry work across Iowa. She has worked with immigrants and refugees through HACAP, she has helped to secure the legal status of immigrants and refugees statewide with Iowa Justice for Our Neighbors and Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice (both supported by the United Methodist Church), and now she works at House of Hope, furthering the accessibility of mental health services with faith support.
Amy is the mother of two young men; Ethan, who is married and lives in Rochester, Minnesota, and Keaton, a senior at Luther College in Decorah. She is married to Gabriel, who is a citizen-immigrant from El Salvador. They enjoy their empty-nest Victorian home in Mount Vernon. Amy loves her work because every day, she enjoys connecting with clients, seeing an opportunity to impact lives, and watching God work in all of it.
