About
Willow Way Farms is a market farm focused on producing vegetables and herbs for the local community. We operate a small CSA and plan to sell at farmers markets in Lincoln, NE. We are focused on using the French intensive method of permanent raised beds, intensive spacing and integrated cover crop program. We are not currently certified, but plan to seek certification in the coming years.
Production Practices
Integrated Pest Management
We focus on pest exclusion by using insect netting to cover all of our sensitive crops. We only use OMRI listed organic pesticides as a last resort in our IPM system. We use soil testing to guide our application of amendments, we mainly use local compost and certified organic alfalfa meal, bone meal, and feather meal. We use cover crops in rotations to build the soil organic matter. We use permanent raised beds and focus on minimal soil disturbance to reduce erosion, and promote the health of the soil biota.
