Flavors of Jamaica Restaurant started as a local Pop Up restaurant under the name Irie Occasions (Irie is a Jamaican term which means Happy). We have done Pop ups at Detroit venues such as Valentines Vodka, Two James, Recolt Meads and 8 Degrees Plato. Additionally we popped up at Detroit City Distillery every Friday, Brooklyn Street Local every Saturday, and Motor City Wine every first Sunday of the month. The high demand for our food led to the opening of our restaurant. Flavors of Jamaica is a Family owned restaurant located in Pontiac Michigan. Jamaican born Chef Reniel Billups spere headed this venture. Though there are some ingredients that can not be locally sourced for the purpose of authentically preparing Jamaican Cuisines, Chef Reniel focuses on elevating Jamaican Cuisine through partnership with local farmers and providers. Flavors of Jamaican caters to customers of all diets and restrictions. When creating the menu, Chef. Reniel was mindful of the daily growing vegan population. She created a menu that presented vegan dishes that mirrored all meat dishes so that everyone can enjoy the Flavors of Jamaica. Flavors of Jamaica has been show cased on many local news shows and has been recognized nationally for there perserverance during the pandemic.
