Farmstead artisan cheese produced on family farm. Operated by Ronnie & Clara Patton. Cheese varieties include: Fresh Cheese Curds (Plain, Italian, and Red Pepper), Somerset Aged Cheddar, Garlic Pepper Cheddar, Gouda, Bernstadt Swiss-Style, Traditional and White Cheddar, Colby, and flavored cheeses such as Victory, Pioneer Coffee Rub, and others.
Dairy farming on the Patton Family Farm began in the late 1930s and has been in continuous operation for 4 generations. Nestled in the foothills of Appalachia along the original Boone Trace in Laurel County, Kentucky. Our herd of Ayrshire, Holstein and Jersey cattle graze on rolling hillsides plentiful with native grasses. The rich whole milk produces distinctive flavor profiles in our artisan cheeses. The cattle are grass-fed and rBST free. Milk is antibioitc free.
Visitors are welcome to our farm and Roadside Farm Market Store. Cheese products are available for purchase at the farm and several Farmers Markets and other retail stores from Knoxville, Tn through Kentucky and north to Cincinnati, OH.
Antibiotic And Hormone Free Pastured Free Range
Philosophy - Natural Cows-Natural Milk-Natural Cheese.Our dairy herd graze open fields (pastured and free-range). Grazing fields are rotated to provide adequate nourishment for the herd. The cattle enjoy fresh air and plenty of space to exercise. They are not confined to barns all day and night. They have access to fresh water at all times. They are milked twice daily. The cattle do not receive any hormones or antibiotics. (Antibiotics are only used when necessary to treat an animal and the milk is withheld until it is clear of antibiotics.) Artisan style cheeses are made from the natural milk from the cows. The milk is not homogenized or skimmed. Preservatives are not added to the milk or cheese. Our cheeses are made, cut and packaged by hand.
