About

Located in Amissville, Virginia, Valley Green Naturals is a clean-ingredient manufacturer of natural skin, and personal care products. With its apiary and artisan lab located in the pastoral foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, Valley Green Naturals offers a mission-driven product line, with 1% of profits donated to organizations working to save the honey bee population. Valley Green Naturals began as a soap making hobby in the kitchen of our farm house. Ten years later, our product line has grown to include handmade lotions, creams, body scrubs, natural deodorants, cleansers, hand sanitizers, insect repellent, balms and facial care. All products are handmade on-site in our small workshop in Amissville. We also are beekeepers, and the raw honey used in some of our products (such as our lip balms and cleansers) is produced by the bees located on our small hobby farm.

Production Practices

In accordance with FDA cosmetic manufacturing regulations, all ingredients and packaging are inspected upon receipt and logged with internal lot numbers for tracking purposes. All product ingredients are measured, blended and bottled by hand in small and precise batches, normally of 200 to 300 ounces at a time, depending on the product being made. All batches and finished products are recorded, lot numbered, stamped and filed for FDA tracking requirements. Product expirations also are stamped on all finished products.

Manager

Cindy DeVore
In a previous life, Cindy worked as a political communications specialist in Washington, DC. Shortly after 9/11, she and her family left suburban-city-living and moved to the beautiful Northern Virginia countryside. They indulged their desire to be more self-sustaining and began growing their own vegetables, beekeeping, raising chickens and enjoying life on a small hobby farm. After purchasing a home soap-making kit, Cindy began experimenting in her farmhouse kitchen with natural soap recipes using garden- and locally-sourced botanicals and honey. She sold the soaps at local events and stores and found that they were a huge hit. Cindy studied reports on commonly used chemicals in mass-market personal care products such as lotions, deodorants, shampoos and the like, and she was alarmed by their effects on the human body and the environment. Ultimately, her findings led to the creation of Valley Green Naturals, a company she formed in 2009 to produce body-safe and eco-friendly natural products for whole body care.
