Taylor Pottery
Material Goods/Craft/Flea/Art
Taylor Pottery was created in the mid-70's in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The original style was country utilitarian stoneware. The 80's were marked by experimenting with Raku and sculptural work. In the early 90's Rikki transitioned to her highly colorful and decorative style using white earthenware clay. During this time Rikki Taylor's "Running Man" bowl was accessioned into the Renwick Museum of American Craft, a division of the Smithsonian Museum. In recent years, articles from the Taylor Pottery collection have made their way into television commercials and the homes of celebrities.
Each of my pieces is hand thrown on the potters wheel, then decorated by hand using colorful underglazes. After a final glaze firing, the result is a varied assortment of vibrantly colored ceramic pieces, both functional and decorative.
