Description
Colorful handmade corn shuck dolls from dyed natural shucks. Locally made for over 40 years! I start with dried natural corn shucks, dye them by hand, and tie the dampened shucks into human figures, using only thread, waxed cotton, and wire for the arms. I embellish the dolls with a variety of natural materials including wool, flax, moss, seed pods, shells, feathers, leather and found materials and repurposed jewelry. The dolls range from about 9" high to 14" high. The dolls are Kitchen Witches, Angels, Father Christmases, Traditional Appalachian dolls, Saints, Gardeners, Herbal Ladies, Heritage Women, Musicians, Buskers, Halloween Witches, Quilters, Knitters, Weavers, Chefs, Shamans, and more.
