About

My husband and I own and operate a small farm in Bushnell, Florida and raise Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats, Idaho Pasture Pigs, and American Bresse Chickens. Thanks to our little goats, that provide us with fresh milk daily, we began to pursue ways that we could use the milk to make healthier, all natural products. It began with goat cheese crumbles, then Chevre (goat cheese rolled in crushed black pepper), Cajeta (cinnamon caramel), and finally, Goat Milk Soap. An all natural, moisturizing, gentle, and beautiful Goat Milk Soap. It opened the door to creativity, design, and a luxurious handcrafted product to enjoy and to share.

I am the wife of a retired Air Force man, mother of 4, grandmother of 10, animal and nature lover, baker, gardener, and soap maker. I've dreamt of a farm for many years before my husband retired and we were able to settle down and finally live our dream. We began on an acre of land and taught others through YouTube how to homestead on a small piece of land. Our goal was to be as self sustainable as possible and we wanted to share our experiences, success and failures, with others. We also wanted to live a healthier more natural way of life. So our journey into homesteading began.

Farm life began with chickens and garden which quickly lead into dairy goats. Since we lived on a small piece of property, we chose Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats because they are excellent milk producers with the highest butter fats of all dairy goats, and they require less space. Then along came Cotournix quail, Pekin ducks, and Idaho Pasture pigs.

Finally, our little girl goats were old enough to breed. Our bucklings were thrilled to finally get to hang out with the girls. And five months later, each of our two girls gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl each.

We left the kids with their moms to nurse and to be raised in the most healthy way, in my opinion. Once they were old enough for them to go all night without milk, they began spending the night next door to their moms. In the mornings, I milk the moms but always leave some for the babies. When the moms return to their area, the babies are brought over to join them where they spend the day. And even with milk sharing and only milking once a day, we receive almost a half gallon of goat milk a day.

Well, I don't drink milk and my husband cant drink that much milk in a day, so I had to find ways to use up the milk. We felt like we didn't have enough to sell but we sure had enough to make some wonderful products for our family. So the journey began into learning how to make things with goat milk.

I looked forward to learning how to make goat milk soap, but working with the lye intimidated me so I began elsewhere. Goat cheese crumble was first, super easy and delicious. And then the list of goat milk products grew quickly (buttermilk, yogurt, chevre, cajate). I'd come to the end of my list and I had no other option. I had to tackle goat milk soap.

My first loaf was a total disaster and my second wasn't much better. But fortunately I am a determined person and I'm just not able to give up when I know there's just something I'm not doing right. Actually, there were a lot of things I wasn't doing right and it took a lot of trial and error to get it down to where I can make a perfectly beautiful loaf of soap every time. Not only was I able to achieve what I was going for, I discover a world of soap making that allowed me to be creative and not only create something beautiful, but all natural and good for our skin.

I fell in love with soap making so much that I could not just make soap for us because I longed to make another loaf. To try new scents, colors, designs, and different oils and butters. So our soap business was created so that I could share my passion with all of you.

Someone asked me once, why do we call our business "Sweet Nibbles"? She said, "isn't nibbles something you eat". I agreed that it does mean that but for us the name is in honor of our goats. You see, our goat are ADGA Registered and we registered their herd name as Sweet Nibbles because goats love to nibble on you. Especially when they are babies. We love our goats very much and the name was very relatable for us. So Sweet Nibbles Soap it had to be.
