We are the Freed family and we are passionate about growing healthy, great tasting pasture raised chicken for our customers. We believe that eating healthy, flavorful food leads to vibrant, abundant living.
Duane started raising pasture raised poultry during warm summer days as a teenager. He'd ride his bike to the farm twice a day to move the chickens to fresh pasture. The chickens thrived on the grass and fresh air, and so did Duane. It was in these formative years that the dream was birthed to one day start a business raising the best tasting chicken you've ever had.
Over the years, we've raised numerous batches of chickens for our own family or to sell to friends. Duane was also the CEO of Moyer's Chicks for a few years where we grew in our knowledge of best breeds, husbandry practices and overall chicken knowledge. In 2023 we purchased a farm in Greensburg, IN. And here we are today--FREED's pasture raised poultry.

Production Practices
Pastured Antibiotic And Hormone Free Non Gmo
Our chickens are raised on pasture and are fed non-GMO feed. Chicks are started in a brooder box before being transferred to chicken tractors at about 3 weeks of age. A chicken tractor is a mobile chicken house with an open bottom. It provides a safe environment for chickens to thrive outdoors. The chicken tractors are moved to a fresh paddock of grass twice a day so the chickens always have fresh grass to eat. In addition to grass, chickens require grains to thrive. We feed our chickens non-GMO feed.

Duane and Ang grew up one generation removed from the farm. Duane's grandparents were dairy farmers in Pennsylvania and Ang's grandparents were ranchers in Montana. Both have fond memories of visiting their grandparents in the country. It has been a lifelong dream to get back to nature and to give their children the opportunity to grow up on the farm.
