About
ShadowBrook began farming in Nebraska in 1996 without the use of synthetic fertilizers, weed control, or pesticides. We practice building soil thru compost application and cover cropping. We direct market 75% at farmers' markets and personally know most customer thru interaction with them at market and social function on the farm. This year, 2019, we formed a partnership with Ian Richmond to enable a better program for the farm.

Integrated Pest Management Pastured Extended Growing Season Non Gmo Use Only Organic Materials Crop Rotation Cover Crops Antibiotic And Hormone Free
We scout for pests weekly and use row cover exclusion when available. We apply organically approved pesticides when necessary. Miscellaneous fungal diseases are controlled to the best of our ability by plant density, weed control, and watering practices. Miscellaneous grasses, bind weed, broadleaf weeds such as pig weed and button weed are controlled by stale bed prep, cultivation, and flame weeding.
