Zookene Cheese is a plant-based, nut-free cheese sauce made from yellow squash and zucchini. It is a clean label product that is free from all preservatives, artificial flavorings, gums/thickeners, as well as free from the top 9 allergens. Our two flavors are Smokey Nacho and Herb Alfredo.
Zookene Cheese was born from me having food allergies to soy, corn, dairy, tree nuts, as well as having Celiac Disease. I have learned over the years how powerful food can be to help heal the body and act as a medicine of sorts. Cheese is a staple in any household and for any age, so when I found out I wasn’t able to ever have it again, it really eliminated a lot of different types of cuisine for me that were my go-to favorite recipes like Italian and Mexican. I explored what vegan cheeses were currently on the market, but a lot of vegan/plant-based cheeses contain tree nuts, which is a problem for me with a nut allergy. I wanted to create a product that was safe for anyone with a food allergy or dietary restriction to have, while also creating a product that was delicious for anyone to enjoy.
