We're a start-up family farm that was practicing sustainable agriculture long before that phrase became popular. We incorporated as a business in 2006 when we committed to farming on a full-time basis. Previous to 2006, we farmed part-time on our land for over 20 years. We cultivate approximately 50 acres as cropland, growing strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, asparagus, pumpkins, gourds and winter squash, Christmas trees, hay and cover crops.
Integrated Pest Management
We strive to operate a farm business that accomplishes three goals:
1) Grow the highest quality products that enhance our own and our community's standard of living
2) Protect and enhance the land, ecology and soils which are our underlying assets for the future
3) Generate income to support our family and way of life
More specifically, we strive to use our soil resources in a manner that best matches to the crops we grow. And the crops we grow are selected to fit our soil profile. We believe that good crops start with good, healthy, balanced soils. Therefore, we spend a significant amount of time and energy managing our soil resources through the use of compost, crop rotation, cover cropping; and managing and monitoring the soil ph and nutrient analysis.
