Charlie and Jill Heng Family
Charlie and Jill Heng were on the normal life path. Charlie graduated from University of Nebraska with a mechanized systems management degree in 1999. Jill graduated from Truman State University with a Health Science degree in 1998 and from UCLA with a masters in epidemiology in 1999. Married in 1999, Charlie entered the construction industry while Jill began teaching at a local university and writing and managing grants for domestic violence and sexual assault. As they welcomed children into the family, Jill stayed home full time while Charlie pressed on in his career. After several years, they began to dream of a different future. In 2011, an abandoned drug house with 24 neglected acres caught their eye. The house became livable with much sweat equity and a fifth daughter joined the family in 2012. Both having farm backgrounds, Jill began a small CSA in 2013 while Charlie continued to work full time. Together they slowly built a farm based on customer relationship, high quality foods, and best practices to rebuild the neglected land. They added products and expanded production each year. Charlie was able to join the farm full time in 2018. Now this family of seven offers produce, pasture raised chicken, free range eggs, and beef. Each year they expand to continue to meet their goal of building a strong family, community, and exceptional foods.
