Detroit Tiki Co. offers handcrafted tikis that turn your patio/garden, bar or even your office into your very own exotic paradise! All our tikis are made out of cement to stand up to the changing climates of Michigan. Along with tikis we make lamps, pendants, jewelry and this year, water foutains!
Detroit Tiki Co. founder Don Peterka grew up just outside of Detroit, mere blocks from the legendary Chin’s Restaurant where as a child his interest in the Tiki culture was piqued by marveling at the large wooden idols that greeted its hungry patrons.
Over the years, Don has dipped his hands in a variety of media. Critical attention to detail has always been central in his art, whether it be graphic design, street photography, animation, or tiki sculpting.
While furloughed during the pandemic of 2020, Don missed an opportunity to purchase a unique tiki statue. Months later, that large cement figure still burning in his mind, he was inspired to create his own! Chiseling the 2ft. Kiki from a block of concrete was just the beginning. This was the catalyst that sparked the creation of The Detroit Tiki Company.
