Late Night Macs is a local, at-home bakery in Portage specializing in freshly baked macarons filled with unique flavors. A majority of the ingredients used to bake with are sourced from Michigan, such as Pioneer granulated sugar and Pioneer confectioners sugar. Late Night Macs has been in business since March of 2022 and returning to local farmers markets for the second year in a row!
I am a liquor sales rep by day and a macaron baker by night! I’m 34 years old and I’ve been living in the Kalamazoo area now for 16 years. I attended Western Michigan University and obtained a degree in Graphic Design. Although I pursued a career in design for some time right of college – I then switched careers and have been a sales rep in the beverage industry for almost 7 years now!
I absolutely love my full time job but I also very much love baking in my free time. My talent and passion for baking definitely comes from my wonderful mother and grandmother. They have been known to make some of the most delicious cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Some years ago when I ate my very first macaron, they were so delicious that something just intrigued me to know how to make them myself. They are so colorful, light, chewy, and always have unlimited options for flavors! In January of 2022, my mom and I got together in the kitchen and attempted our first ever batch of macs. The first batch was a little rough but still very tasty. And then shortly after – we nailed it on the second and third batch! It’s simply been an all-out obsession for me ever since. And now I’m so happy to be able to share my macaron creations with everyone in the Kalamazoo area!
