Since 2009, we have participated as a merchant vendor at the CelebrAsian Festival, serving part of the Vietnamese community in Des Moines, Iowa. Our gift shop offers a wide variety of fashion jewelry, souvenirs, clothing, and accessories that celebrate Asian art/culture, as well as other countries from around the world. In September of 2023, we opened up our very own store located at 3812 Douglas Ave, named Exotic World Gift Shop.

Hello I will be speaking for my mother, Thanh Nguyen.
My name is Bao Nguyen. I am Thanh's youngest of four children. My family migrated from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Des Moines, Iowa in the summer of 1996.
Back in Vietnam, my mother made her living off as a street vendor. She supported the family by selling toys, crafts, clothing, and handmade jewelry. Now every summer, she looks forward to the Des Moines' CelebrAsian Festival, where she gets to relive those days in the busy streets of Vietnam.
In September of 2023, she opened up her very own shop named 'Exotic World Gift Shop' to continue her lifelong passion of selling merchandise.
