Michael Kifer

Currently a self-employed clay artist in Richland, Michigan.

1977-78 Apprenticed Frank A. Colson, Sarasota, Florida

When I began my studio in 1974 my work was functional stoneware. In 1984 I attended Penland School of Craft and was inspired to take my work in another direction, decorative earthenware. With stoneware my work became just that “work,” instead of enjoyment. To me earthenware was intriguing because of the variety of colors available.
