About

We are a multi-generational family farm. My grandma's family came to Sedro Woolley in 1910 during the Tarheel migrations of the early 20th century. My ancestors emigrated to Ballard as fishermen and businessmen in the 19th century. Currently we are farming approximately 40 acres of veggies and berries and 40 acres of mob-grazed cover cropped pasture land, on our 5th generation family farm. In the summer we have close to 1500 layer hens living their best pasture life in mobile coops moved weekly. We also raise broiler chickens in pasture coops moved daily. We are dedicated to providing a diverse mix of vegetables and berries year-round to our customers and year-round equitable work to our hard-working employees. Creating and maintaining regenerative 'living soil' is at the hub of how we are able to grow...

Production Practices

It's all about regenerating and maintaining healthy soil. Extensive Poly-cultural cover-cropping (poultry and ruminants' mob-grazing on a diverse cover crop), farm-made compost, biodiverse hedgerows in the margins and along waterways are just some of the methods we employ to created rich, 'living soil'. More than 100 culturally and ethnically diverse varieties ensure that no matter what type of weather a particular year brings, we can ride the wave. We strive to farm like grandma and grandpa did before the 'green revolution' and are committed to farming and providing fresh greens and veggies year-round; our customers don't stop eating in the winter and neither do our employees.

I have been growing and eating from this farm since I was a small child. Growing up I would help my grandma in the garden; primarily by building roads through the rhubarb and potato patch with my Tonka trucks. We started growing commercially ten years ago with a small CSA; fast-forward ten years and we are at several markets a week during the summertime and are a year-round staple on the cobbles of the Ballard Farmers Market.
