We are a regenerative no-till flower farm operating on1 acre of land in the heart of Crystal Lake, Illinois. We grow cut flowers for florists, brides, farmers markets, and special events. Our goal is to educate people about the important of soil health and receiving healthy cut flowers back in peoples homes without pesticides, herbicides, or anything that can be harmful to someone’s health.
We do not till the soil of our flowers because every time a tiller goes through the soil you loose essential nutrients to your plants, flowers, or veggies. Tilling causes more weed and pest issues but it usually is treated by pesticides or herbicides. Our farm uses durable fabric to cover our rows to prevent weeds and retain moisture throughout the summer. If we need to flip beds we will leave the roots intact, lay some compost over the previous crop and begin planting right alongside the dead plant.
Elaina fales
My name is Elaina and my husbands name is Garrett. We have a 18 month old named Forrest and our second is due in the fall. We take Sundays as our sabbath by enjoying family time, going to church, and spending time in community. In the spring we love searching for morel mushrooms, in the summer we love planting seeds on the farm, and in the fall you’ll find us at a local forest preserve walking around enjoying nature.
