Gateway Dance Theatre (GDT) uses the arts to engage, communicate, educate and collaborate with
diverse communities to enrich lives. GDT provides exciting programs for all ages; bridges cultures; and
provides an opportunity to explore the world through dance, music, visual art, drama, poetry, science,
mind and body. Believing the arts are essential to a complete education and life-long learning, GDTs
focus is to advance a diverse arts movement for all ages, broaden arts outreach to increase cultural
sensitivity and to champion social justice—including issues related to the environment—to create a
comprehensive learning experience.
I am the program and project coordinator for Gateway Dance Theatre. Since age 12 I have been actively learning how to run the company and as the co-founders' granddaughter I am taking charge. Our team is 3 people: Penny Furgerson, Debina Nath, and I. Together we work with artists to create programming for the community to make the arts accessible.
