I started this farm in 2020 as a small-scale garage grow. Over the past few years I've been able to scale up and purchase some land in Yelm to develop my farm. The vast majority of my sales are direct to consumer and last year I was able to attend 4 farmers markets. I hope to continue the success this year and bring my product to addition markets throughout Western Washington.
Production Practices
Extended Growing Season
Mushroom farming is a little different than the more familiar row-crop production. Mycelium is inoculated into a primarily Alder sawdust substrate and allowed to colonize the entirety of the substrate before being placed in a humidity, CO2, light, and temperature controlled environment to fruit. I don't have any certifications for this process but it is one which allows the repurposing of essentially a waste product or byproduct of the logging industry into a source of nutrition for the community.
