kennyG farms a 2-acre parcel in rural Stephenson County, IL. This area formerly supported tall-grass prairie on the fertile silty loess deposits of the NW Driftless area of IL. Areas of the farm have been seeded to native prairie grasses and wildflowers. The farm provides a natural habitat refuge within a large agribusiness farming community growing corn and beans.
kennyG uses only organic fertilizers along with green manures from paths mowed within the native prairie habitat. Various vegetables, apples, and pears are grown, with emphasis on quality garlic, spinach, heirloom tomato and peppers, onions, asparagus, okra, squash and no-spray fruit.
