About
My parents started Daniels Produce in the early 80s when I was very young as a secondary source of income to their row crops during flood years. My siblings and I spent our childhoods going to the Haymarket Farmers market in Lincoln as well as the Columbus Farmers market and running daily roadside stands. Today my brother and myself help my parents run the farm. My mother operates the Lincoln farmers markets and my brother and I handle the Omaha farmers markets. My brother is obsessed with tomatoes and we have several greenhouses full right now. I like bell peppers and cucurbits more myself. My dad loves pickling anything we grow and trying new salsa recipes every year with using the items we raise. As my parents get older my brother and I would like to focus on direct to consumer markets as it is where we started and we love the customer interaction. We grow about 900 acres of field corn, soybeans, popcorn and vegetables to support all three families. We start selling asparagus and lettuces in May and end with hard squash and pumpkins in the fall and we have every produce item in between but we are most known for our sweet corn.
Production Practices
Integrated Pest Management Extended Growing Season Crop Rotation
We are conventional farmers, however we use lots of traditionally organic practices too. I believe farming, like anything, it not black or white so we utilize the best of all practices to bring our vegetables to market. We use cover crops in the fall to maintain top soil and fix nitrogen in the soil. They are also an amazing natural weed inhibitors. We utilize steam soil sterilization in our greenhouses and then add back in natural biologicals into the soil. We rotate all our crops on a 3 year rotation when ever possible. We use black plastic mulch and drip tape to control weeds and maximize the efficiency of our water use. We are GFSI Food Safety Certified which is of the utmost importance to make sure we are providing safe produce to our customers.

Daniels Produce is a family operation ran by my parents, Andy and Tannie, and myself and my brother. For this farmers market myself and my brother would be the main managers. We would be taking turns coming to the market and would probably have a few of our interns or other team members make the journey from time to time once the market is up and running. Myself and my brother are full time farmers and have spent our entire lives producing and selling vegetables. We love to answer questions and teach our consumers about how we grow produce and even started a TikTok channel this winter to show our customers how we grow our produce. I am married to my husband, Jason Jackson (gets confusing since my brother is also named Jason) and we have 4 kiddos: Harrison 12, Colin 8, Ben 7 and Cecilia 2 years old. My oldest two now go with me on weekends to farmers markets. My brother is married and his wife Kassi and their son Maddox, 18, run farmers markets together also. We generally hire a few people from the town of the market to help us run the stand.
