About

Sampaguita Farms is a hyperlocal collection of market gardens operating out of three urban yards in Portland, Oregon. I am a first-year farm business growing primarily cut flowers with some vegetable production as well. All local, grown without any sprays, and with soil and ecological health at the center of all growing decisions. The farm is a part of a larger online educational effort that hopes to share the viability and importance of urban agriculture.

The Sampaguita flower, also known as sambac jasmine, is the national flower of the Philippines. The name honors my Lolo and Lola (grandfather and grandmother) who always had the flower growing in their own garden. As immigrants, they called multiple places home, and similarly Sampaguita Farms exists in many places, held together by the person and the project rather than the place.
