About

I grew up in Norfolk, Va, but would travel every weekend to our Certified Century Family Farm in Pasquotank, NC - an area referred to as Newland much the same way we refer to ourselves under the umbrella Hampton Roads) and while there we endeavored in lots of farming of just about any and everything that would grow there. As the years moved forward and I began this little hot sauce company, we began using this farmland for growing hot peppers. It was the idea of my dad, who I lost to brain cancer just several months ago, to name my company a strong name that he thought could be the backbone of a brand, but to misspell it: NuLand. I thought that was a really cool idea and off with it, I went.
Going forward, I decided to make my hot sauces super flavorful, with heat being the accent and where my notion of "farm-to-flavour" was born. Instead of marketing and labeling my bottles with skulls/bones/reds/ and other extreme things, I wanted to take it the other direction, so reds became hot pinks and fun colors to compliment it and I have funny little "misfit" hot sauce characters on each bottle that is both the label "subject," but also has its flair that indicates what flavor is expected, before having to read what it is. This year, we have a new, improved look - with a newly designed tent, donning the pretty hot pink pepper logo on a clean, white canvas (for the past two years, we have had a fun hot pink tent!) Also, this year, in addition to offering several flavors of Bloody Mary Mixes, we will be introducing Spicy Snacks, the first of which will be Spicy Dill Pickle hummus - and I will be super-excited for this to be a spring time addition! We look very forward to potentially being a part of 2nd Sundays, again, this year....

I am the owner, manufacturer, and multi-hat wearer. Sometimes I've said unicorn lol. I was very lucky last year to have a helper, Matty, join me and she is still working markets for me. This enabled me to have the time to both work in two different directions at the same time, as well as the blessing to have someone keep things going while I was caregiving my dad all of last year, until he passed. (This was something quietly going on behind the scenes for quite some time, before I mentioned a word of it). She will be doing the same this year and as we approach Spring this year, I am hopeful to have one more person join me. (To be continued..)

** Below Under Contact Information, I wasn't able to specify in the field, but the Location Address is not open to customers. This is my Certified Commissary Kitchen, approved through VDH and VDACS, but not for customers to come into.
