Celie's Garden, LLC
Material Goods/Craft/Flea/Art
We began making handmade soaps during the COVID lockdown and became enthralled with the art, the chemistry, and the final product that made us never want to go back to the mass-produced chemical-laced stuff we used to buy in grocery stores. Friends and family loved our soaps too, so we decided to launch Celie's Garden soaps. My grandkids call me Grama Celie. My maiden name was Garden. Since our products are natural and plant-based, we thought Celie's Garden was the right name for our business. After experimenting with dyed mica colorants we chose to go the direction of only using natural colorants. Our decision about colorants led us to make other commitments to guide our business. We would only produce natural products with no synthetics, which led us to use only essential oils for fragrances rather than artificial fragrance oils. We would use premium ingredients like extra virgin olive oil and organic coconut oil. We would use minimalist and recyclable packaging. Those choices resulted in all-natural, mostly vegan products. Our Milk and Honey Collection of non-vegan products are cruelty-free, using byproducts such as honey, beeswax, goats milk, and silk. These commitments feed into our ultimate goals of producing beautiful products you love to use.

My husband Dale and I went to high school at Denbigh and Lafayette respectively. After 40 years away, we moved back to Williamsburg in 2018 to be closer to family. We began Celie's Garden in 2021 and love working together to make products that other people love.
