Dark Hollow Farm and Ranch is owned and operated by Jean-Marc Schaible and Jennifer Blakley. Jean-Marc retired in 2013 from the U.S. Army, and from the U.S. federal government in 2021. He began farming as his third career in 2022 with raising heritage breed hogs, and 2023 will be his first year bringing pork products to farmers markets. Similarly, Jennifer began beekeeping during the pandemic, and will be bringing her honey to farmers markets in 2023. Both of these products will be sold under Dark Hollow Farm and Ranch, which is wholly owned and operated by Jean-Marc and Jennifer. The farm and ranch are located in Markham, VA.

We do all the things you're supposed to do - which now have all these fancy names, but generally are just the way our food should be raised. We raise heritage hogs the way hogs were supposed to be raised, full-time in the fields and woods, where they forage and live lives as happy hogs. Heritage hogs are uniquely situated for this, with all the innate characteristics that enable them to live on acorns, nuts, berries, grubs - all the things they find from turning over rocks and digging up roots. We have less than 20 hogs at a time on 35 acres - and rotate them between fields, so they have the best lives hogs could have and eat the best things for hogs.
