Olmeka Mexican Bites

Meeting my husband who was working with me in Mexico, I immigrated to the United States. While here my husband has taken me to many restaurants showing me what he though was most authentic. I found many to be ok, but not prepared with love like my grandmother would when we had family get togethers. While inviting friends and family over we prepared a traditional tamale dinner. From there many relatives and friends requested extra to take home, and request more for family events later. From there we joined a small local market during the summer and sold out several hundred tamal in an hour. From there my husband and I decided to create Olmeka Mexican bites. This was to honor my father who is a descendant of the Olmec's, a society predating the Aztecs. From there we have strived to share the great food of my culture with my new homeland. Olmeka Mexican Bites was started to bring good authentic Mexican food to the people of Detroit. Using traditional recipes from our relatives in Mexico. We recreate these recipes with local ingredients and dream up new flavors for the American palate.
