I am an athletic trainer gone crafter. Some might think, how did that happen? The answer is simple. I'm just getting back to my artistic roots. I grew up in a creative household where I watched my mom design various projects. Whether it was a homemade Halloween costume or coordinated outfits for my brother and me (matching corduroy jumpsuits anyone?), my mom always had on going projects. Outside the home she also encouraged me to join arts and craft classes and helped me glue cotton balls onto my 2nd grade snowy owl paper maché project.
Gluing cotton balls onto a snowy owl is one thing, but it wasn't until I started working with my mother- and father-in-law that I realized I could turn this childhood interest into an actual business. Keith and Becky started their business, Grape Country Florals, just over 30 years ago and have been creating and selling their own handmade designs around the Midwest ever since. Over the last five years, I've been lucky enough to “intern” with the Rife's helping in their booth, learning the craft and meeting their customers. Needless to say, I fell in love with the crafting world and knew that I wanted to be a part of the crafter community.
