Guaya Empanadas celebrates my hispanic/latin, carribean culture! It has rooted meaning showing how a popular “street food” connects mulitple islands & countries around the world. While all
empanadas are different depending on its origin, they are enjoyed by many cultures. Making and selling these empanadas to the community allows me to respectfully celebrate my heritage.

Being a Miami native & moving to Hawai'i at nineteen to finish school has given me more meaning to the importance of culture. Both of my parents are immigrants of hispanic/latin & carribean culture. Creativity & passion was made in the kitchen.
Also, being surrounded by a fusion of latin & carribean culture in Miami is similar to the Polynesian & asian infulence in Hawai'i. While all are different, both states have communites of blended cultures,
