About us: Mountain Oak Candle Candle company offers hand poured soy candles that are created with nature in mind. All candles are premium performance candles crafted using only the finest ecologically friendly soy wax, high quality premium fragrance oils and 100% cotton wicks. Each candle is unique.
History: Mountain Oak Candle Company was originally created in a Maryland family garage in 2003, by Jeffs brother. Due to the families farming background and the desire to continue support of our farmers and agriculture, soy wax was chosen. Being a veteran marine, and having the desire to support, and be part of small business growth, he purchased the company from his brother in 2006 to align with those values. Jeff continued crafting from his West Virginia home. The company prides themselves on being a home-based, environmentally friendly company, that hand makes high quality soy candles, holding performance and design to the highest level of standards, while maintaining affordability. In 2022 Jeff began the process of moving his residence and company to Kentucky with a continued commitment to his already established customer base.
Honors: Mountain Oak Candles were honorably juried into the Tamarack Foundation in 2006. Tamarack Artisians are known as “the best Artisians of West Virginia”. The front label logo was created and designed by Mark Stutzman, who created the first Elvis Presley postage stamp. The postage stamp was chosen by the American people and adopted and issued by the US Postal Service in 1993.
Soy Wax: Soy wax was developed in the early 1990’s, by Michael Richards, as an alternative to petroleum derived paraffin, and natural more expensive beeswax. Soy candles are derived from soy wax, which is a natural wax derived of soybeans. Soy wax is a biodegradable substance and does not emit any substances which are harmful to human health or the environment, they are vegan, clean burning and environmentally friendly. Our soy wax candles have an excellent scent throw when burning and even leave a pleasant aroma when cold. Soy wax spillages can easily be cleaned up using warm soapy water and when the candle is finished, simply clean and reuse the jars for something else. We use soy candle wax that is only made in the United States.
Burn Time: Mountain Oak Candle eight ounce candles burn 60-75 hours with proper wick maintenance. Our soy wax has a lower melting point, which allows them to burn clean and efficiently. No soy wax remains on the sides of the jar, and does not emit or leave behind petro carbon soot. The recommended burning time is 2-4 hours per session. Our soy tart melts can also be used in various warmers.
Scents: Mountain Oak Candle Company offers approximately 60 different fragrances, including unscented and provides customized scents upon the request from the customer. Performance is the key and each candle fragrance is hand tested to ensure high quality standards.
