About

Perennial Hill is a fledgling market farm practicing regenerative agriculture in the rising foothills of Oregon’s Coast Range. In 2023, we are excited to offer our first major dry farmed harvest including tomatoes, potatoes, beans, squash, melons, and cut sunflowers, as well as some native and pollinator friendly plants.

We are committed to regenerative farming practices - prioritizing soil and environment health along with growing flavorful, nutritious produce. Our produce is grown by dry farming, rainfall farming, and irrigation with harvested rainwater. We do not use any herbicides or pesticides and only use organic approved soil amendments. We are minimal till and use permanent rows and pathways formed along the contour, a lightweight walk behind tractor, cover crops, intercropping and crop rotation to protect and improve our soil. We do not use plastic mulch since it is a single use plastic and is hard or impossible to recycle. We are adding native trees and plants in dedicated wild areas on our farm to provide forage and shelter for wildlife.

Our hill will long outlast us. In our role as its temporary stewards, we aim to farm in a manner that will have a positive and lasting effect on the land itself – leaving it better than we found it: healthy active soils, an improved water table, increased native biodiversity, and an improved ecosystem.

Manager

Julia & Justin
Perennial Hill is farmed by Julia with help from her husband Justin. Starting out small, with about a half an acre under cultivation or cover crop in 2023, we are working towards having roughly two of our five acres in a cultivation rotation and the remaining fully planted with native plants for wildlife forage. Initially we are focusing heavily on dry farmed crops, but we plan to work towards offering produce year round, as well as native and pollinator friendly plants during the rainy seasons.
