Giovanna was born to immigrant parents in Paterson, NJ. When she was 1 year old, her father moved them to Texas where he eventually ended up opening three restaurants in and around Baytown, TX. Giovanna spent her early childhood in restaurants. Her father passed away when she was 9 years old. Her mother moved them back to Sicily just two years later. There she married and had three children and went through a divorce. To survive and ensure they had enough to eat and to have shelter over their head she began working at the San Francesco cathedral in Milazzo. There she began to build her culinary skills.
Giovanna's dream was to follow in her father's footsteps and return to America to start her own restaurant. In 2019 she was offered an opportunity to become Chef of Sicilia Mia in Farmington Utah. She sold everything she had, took what little she had left, and embarked on a journey back to the USA. She rented a room from a family and brought her 18yo son with her. Months later she met a man who would become her husband just a year later and move them to Nashville.
Within a couple of years Giovanna with the help of her husband and children were able to build a restaurant, Tutti Da Gio, which quickly garnered recognition for its authentic Italian cuisine.
Tutti Da Gio has been recognized by the Nashville Scene as the best new Italian in Nashville in 2022. It has also had a couple of feature articles written up, in both the Nashville Scene and Maintstreet Nashville
