Native Pueblo
Vendor
I'm third generation of crafters in my family. I grew up in the Yaqui reservation, southern Arizona.
As an indigenous person, my education consisted of learning the cultural values and preserving my poeople old traditions. During my childhood I learned how to craft bone and leather, I then was intruduced to silversmithing. With my background working with leather and silver I then discover the art to craffting Wampum.
Working with Wampum has been so far the most fulfilling activity I 've ever done.
I use traditional hand carving tools to make wampum figures and finish them using some modern tools such as grinders and dremils. Most of my wampum work its done with wet grinders.
My bone carving also requires hand tool for grinding followed by fine sanding.
